Who does not love spaghetti and meat sauce for a comforting dinner? To make this Whole30, you can use spaghetti squash, zucchini or hearts of palm noodles (Natural Heaven makes a great one). The meat sauce is easy to make and you will have leftovers for the next day.
45 - 60 Minutes
2 pounds of ground turkey
3 tbsp Rub You Right All Purpose Rub
1 packet Awesome Onion Horseradish spice mix
1 packet of Zesty Garden spice mix
29 oz can of tomato sauce
12 oz can of tomato paste
14 ½ oz can of fire roasted tomatoes (or whatever diced tomatoes you like)
Whatever pasta – noodle substitute you like
Step 1 Heat a little olive oil in a pan and place turkey in the pan. Sprinkle the rub all over the turkey meat and cook until browned.
Mix the tomato sauce, paste and diced tomatoes in a stockpot. Use the paste can, place the horseradish spice and the zesty garden spice in the can, and add water. Fill can about 3/4 with water and stir to incorporate all the spices. Let it stand for a few minutes, then pour into the stockpot, and stir. Add more water to the sauce until it reaches the desired consistency. About 1 to 2 more cans (remember that it will become thinner as it heats).
Add the cooked turkey and incorporate by stirring. Cover the pot and turn burner on medium high heat. Once sauce starts to bubble, turn heat down to medium low. Allow to cook for about 10 minutes before starting the noodles. Step 4 Prepare the noodles per directions based on what you are using. Once the noodles are done and drained, use the same pot to put a few spoons of sauce in the pan. Put noodles back in the pan and place on a warm burner and stir the sauce and noodle mixture until the sauce is incorporated into the noodles. Plate the noodles and spoon sauce on top and serve.
Note: You can swap ground beef for the turkey. You can also add more Rub You Right All Purpose Rub to the sauce mixture to taste.
